Interactive C

For this module, we will use Interactive C version 8.0.2.  This is available for free download - see below.

Everything is already set up for you on the lab computers.  This page is only relevant if you want to use Interactive C on your own computer.

Windows

This version works for Windows versions up to Windows 7.  It may also work on Windows 8, but we have not tested it.

Step 1

Download and run the Interactive C installer.  During the installation, you can accept all the default settings.  If you want to save some disk space, you can de-select the libraries for robot controllers other than the Handyboard.

Step 2

This is optional, only needed if you want to use the simulator within Interactive C.  Download and save this simulation library file - right-click on the link and select "Save Target As..." or "Save Link As..." or equivalent.  Make sure that you save the file with its original name - lib_hb_sim.ic - Windows may try to save this as a text document, so you may need to select "All Files" as the file type before saving.  If necessary, you can rename the file after you save it.

Use this new file to replace the file of the same name in the Interactive C installation.  If you chose the default options during the installation, this file will be in C:\Program Files\Interactive C 8.0.2\lib\handyboard.

Mac Os X or Linux

There are versions of Interactive C available for these operating systems.  The MAC version works only on OS X up to 10.6 - it will not work on the latest OS.
